There are 5 courses within this program. Total amount of learning is approximately 12 hours.

Certificates will be issued upon successful completion of accreditation requirement.


The online Humanitarian Aid Certificate Program will prepare healthcare professionals interested in providing humanitarian aid or disaster response.

The program will answer the following questions:

  • What are the best practices for health personnel involved in international disaster relief operations?
  • What competencies do I need to work in a medical team, and what are the required skills sets to be an organizational team leader or medical coordinator in a humanitarian emergency?
  • What are the common core competencies?
  • What are the key health-related topics I need to know to be an effective field worker?
  • How do I prepare?
  • How do I stay safe?

Accreditation Details

This event is approved by the Office for Continuing Professional Development. The Office for CPD, Faculty of Medicine, McGill University is fully accredited by the Committee on Accreditation of Canadian Medical Education (CACME)

This program meets the accreditation criteria of the College of Family Physicians of Canada for Mainpro+ credits. Members of the American Academy of Family Physicians are eligible to receive credit hours for attendance at this meeting due to a reciprocal agreement with the College of Family Physicians of Canada.

This event is an accredited group learning activity (Section 1) as defined by the Maintenance of Certification program of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada.
